Training for the horse and rider are available spring through fall here at Apple Knoll Farm with USEA ICP-Certified Instructor and AKF Head Trainer, Adrienne Iorio.  Adrienne has competed through the International 5-Star level in Eventing and is a Graduate B Pony Clubber.  She is also a member of the USEA, USEF, Norfolk Hunt, Whiskey Road Fox Hounds, and the Aiken Hounds. Adrienne actively trains and shows horses for Eventing and Fox-Hunting, splitting her time between Apple Knoll in Millis, MA and Frog Hollow in Aiken, SC.  She enjoys teaching students of all levels, will happily travel to your farm as well, and is also available for clinics and coaching at shows!  E-Mail for details and rates.

Adri is our Barn Manager and a lifelong resident of Massachusetts where she has been fortunate enough to have grown up with horses in her backyard since the age of three. Entrenched in the equestrian community from such a young age,  Adri graduated from Johnson & Wales University as an Equine major and has worked throughout the area caring for horses, training, and teaching over the past 20 years.

Adri’s dedication to equine care extends beyond the barn. She is an active participant in local equestrian communities and her passion for horses and their well-being drives her to stay updated with the latest advancements in equine care, ensuring that the horses under her charge receive the best possible care. Her leadership and expertise make her an invaluable asset to our team, fostering a nurturing and dynamic atmosphere at the barn. Her unwavering commitment to excellence and her genuine love for horses allows our barn to continue to flourish, providing us with a safe haven for our horses and a place of learning and growth for riders of all levels.

Carol Mayo is a graduate of Moat House, Benenden, Kent England. She is a British Horse Society instructor and ECP Level IV Instructor. For more than 30 years she has been teaching riders and training horses from two years through Preliminary level. She has ridden through Prix St. George and is a USDF Bronze and Silver Medalist.

Carol teaches riders of all levels in eventing. She works with each student to develop an individual plan designed to create progress for both horse and rider. Her training has included some of the best in the world including:

• Herr Rockavanski from the Spanish Riding School

• Bertie Hill, A British Olympic Medalist for the 3-day event

• J. Michael Plumb, A seven-time Olympian for the 3 Day USA event team

• Dottie Morkis, an Olympic Medalist in dressage

• Renate Landsburgh, longtime friend, trainer, and judge

As Assistant Trainer to Adrienne Iorio, Julia combines competitive experience with a passion for developing horses and riders. She has competition experience in dressage through 4th level and is a USDF Bronze medalist. She also currently competes at the Preliminary level in eventing. She enjoys producing horses for sport and helping clients find the right equine partner through the program's sales offerings. 

Kailyn has been teaching riding lessons and coaching since 2018. Passionate about continued learning, Kailyn has a Master’s degree in education and is a full-time science educator, which provides an experience that blends well into teaching riding lessons. Kailyn cares deeply about meeting riders where they are at and working with them and their horses to achieve their competitive goals. Kailyn has competed through the preliminary/2* level, and has spent several years learning from and working for a variety of professionals, including spending some time as a 5* groom and barn manager for Jan Byyny.  Kailyn is also heavily involved with the Area 1 Young Rider program, including serving as the Chef d’Equipe for the 2026 championship team. Kailyn has been teaching riding lessons and coaching since 2018.
